The Brazilian Sion Parish of Saint Joseph of Ipiranga (Sao Paulo), our almost centennial parish, received last Sunday its twenty-second parish priest. Fr. Valdenício Antônio da Silva NDS took the post at the 11 o'clock Mass by the Bishop of the Ipiranga Region, Bishop José Roberto Fortes Palau, in the presence of the Superior General, Father Donizete Ribeiro, NDS, other religious of Sion and a large number of faithful. Many of them came from communities where Fr. Valdenicio had formerly held the priestly ministry, for instance, the Parish Good Lord Jesus of Aruja (Sao Paulo).
The St. Joseph Parish Community received its new Shepherd with open arms, in an enthusiastic and festive welcome. "I believe in the primacy of God and assume in my ordination that I am no more than a" co-worker of God" (1 Cor 3: 9) and I have experienced the joy of seeing him work in faith and in the life of the People that the Congregation Has trusted throughout these 13 years of priestly ministry," Father Valdenício said.
